Daido is originally from Vietnam. He came to Cardiff, Wales, to study and earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Financial Management there.
Shortly after completing his studies, he began to experience the contradictions of life and longed for peace and a deeper understanding of the nature of human desires and suffering.
In October 2016, he came to the Noorder Poort for a work week. During this brief stay, he was deeply moved by the tranquility, simplicity, and structure of life there, as well as by the kindness of the people he met. This brief introduction to the Noorder Poort opened up a new perspective on life for him—and on how to live it in simplicity, peace, and harmony. This led him to return in January 2017 as a resident and begin his training with Jiun Roshi.
In 2018, he was ordained as an unsui with the name Daido (“Great Way”). In 2025, he was appointed a Zen teacher by Jiun Roshi.
