Susanne Jisei Backner (1961) started her zen practice at the age of 20. From 1993 to 1999 she was a student of Prabhasa Dharma zenji. Since 2000 she is a student of Jiun Hogen roshi. In May 2022 she was ordained by Jiun roshi as a zen teacher named Jisei (Voice of compassion). Susanne leads a meditation group in Hamburg and offers online meditations. She has been Chair of the International Zen Institute Germany (IZID) since 2016.

Susanne Jisei works with great pleasure as a teacher of art, theater and philosophy. She has a daughter, a son and two grandsons.
